The New
Things
November 16, 2008
By Pastor Young Joon Park
Most
of people generally like to possess brand new things.
New
car, new house, new shoe, new cloth and new anything ¡¦.
Text:
Isaiah 43:19
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not
perceive it?
I am making a way in the
desert and streams in the wasteland. (NIV)
Our
Lord declared that He is going to do the new things among us 2700 years ago
through Prophet Isaiah.
Isaiah 42:9
Behold, the former things have
come to pass, Now I declare new things;
Before they spring forth I
proclaim them to you.¡±
Isaiah 42:10
Sing to the LORD a new song, Sing His praise from the end of the
earth!
You who go down to the sea,
and all that is in it.
You islands, and those who
dwell on them.
Isaiah 48:6
You have heard these things;
look at them all. Will you not admit them?
¡°From now on I will tell
you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you.
Isaiah 62:2
The nations will see your
righteousness, and all kings your glory;
you will be called by a new
name that the mouth of the LORD will
bestow.

Isaiah 65:17
Behold, I will create new
heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be
remembered, nor will they come to mind.
Whenever
God did a new thing, He chose the people to fulfill His Will.
He
chose Adam and Eve to multiply people and fill them on earth for the new thing.
He
chose Abraham to make the new generation for His Kingdom.
He
chose Moses to transform the slavery minded Israel to the conquering minded for
the new Promised Land that is new thing to them.
He
chose King David to send the Messiah for the New Life.
I. Review the Genealogy
1. Adam¡¯s genealogy
Genesis 5 & 11: – the genealogy of death ¡°died¡±
2. Jesus¡¯ genealogy
Matthew 1:1-17, Luke 3:23-38 – the genealogy of life ¡°beget¡±
1) Matthew 1:1-17
a) The King Messiah as King of kings, and Lord of lords
b) Starting from Abraham to Joseph as a Covenant Son Jesus
c) Solomon is Joseph¡¯s ancestor
2) Luke 3:23-38
a) The Last Adam Jesus as Son of Man – woman¡¯s seed
b) Starting from Jesus as the Last Adam who brings the lost to God by His
Sacrifice
c) Nathan who is Solomon¡¯s brother is Mary¡¯s ancestor
I Chronicles 3:5
and these were the children born to him there: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan
and Solomon. These four were by Bathsheba daughter of Ammiel.
Solomon
and Nathan are brothers with the same one mother through King David.
Solomon
became the successor to the throne of Israel, so Solomon became King¡¯s blood
line, but Nathan just became a part of the Royal family.
Joseph
was from Solomon¡¯s descendent; however, Mary was from Nathan¡¯s.
So
Joseph was the blood line of the King of Israel, and Mary was a Royal family.
We
heard about the message of genealogy in Matthew last week.
God
had a new plan to send Jesus, so God chose many people to accomplish His Plan.
You
saw at lease 42 people who were chosen by the Lord to accomplish His Plan in
Matthew Chapter 1 and 77 names in Luke.
The
purpose of the genealogy in Matthew is the King¡¯s blood line.
According
to this Matthew, we know that Joseph should become a King of Israel if Israel
was not under the rule of the Romans government, also Jesus should be the next
King of Israel after Joseph.
That
is why God chose Joseph and Mary to fulfill His New Plan.
So
Jesus was the fulfillment of the King of kings, and the fulfillment of the
woman¡¯s seed.
The
new thing that God declared is about Jesus.
II. Joseph and Mary as Jesus¡¯ parents
We
want to pause here to meditate the special people who were chosen to accomplish
for God¡¯s new thing.
Joseph
and Mary were the last people to fulfill to send Jesus Christ.
God
chose the very special godly people for this new thing that He promised Isaiah
43:
Are
you ready to receive the new things thing through your life?
We
have to be ready to receive His new things and to release it to the world.
God
chose Joseph and Mary to release His greatest plan the salvation.
1. Mary
Luke 1:26-38
Lk 1:26 In the sixth month,
God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee,
Lk 1:27 to a virgin pledged
to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin¡¯s name
was Mary.
Lk 1:28 The angel went to
her and said, ¡°Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.¡±
Lk 1:29 Mary was greatly
troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.
Lk 1:30 But the angel said
to her, ¡°Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.
Lk 1:31 You will be with
child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.
Lk 1:32 He will be great
and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the
throne of his father David,
Lk 1:33 and he will reign
over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.¡±
Lk 1:34 ¡°How will this be,¡±
Mary asked the angel, ¡°since I am a virgin?¡±
Lk 1:35 The angel answered,
¡°The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will
overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.
Lk 1:36 Even Elizabeth your
relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be
barren is in her sixth month.
Lk 1:37 For nothing is
impossible with God.¡±
Lk 1:38 ¡°I am the Lord¡¯s servant,¡± Mary answered. ¡°May it be to me as you
have said.¡± Then the angel left her.
I
shared 5 women if Jesus¡¯ genealogy last Sunday, so I do want to go over it
again, but
We
need to see her character and life.
1) Mary received the special favor from the Lord
a) the Wonderful encounter with Gabriel.
b) The Messiah will come through her – it is exciting news as a woman of Israel
This promised prophetic word was the desire of the women of Israel.
She
had the most wonderful blessings from the Lord among all of the human being,
but at the same time she has to make the serious decision.
The
prophetic word is making us encourage stepping forward.
2) Mary was faced to make a serious decision
a) She is going to conceive Jesus
without Joseph.
b) She is going to face to stone
to death.
c) She is going to face to extreme
criticism from other included Joseph and family
d) She might face the extreme
rejection from Joseph and the parents.
e) She can choose to refuse to
accept it, but she did submit herself to the Lord 100%.
So
her situation is very serious. Mary, she took it very seriously even the danger
of the massive rejection or death.
We
have tremendous prophetic words from the Lord and powerful encounter with the
Lord, but most of the time there are some requirements of our life.
We
might need to give up something for the will of the Lord,¡¦
We
have to pay the price to fulfill His Prophetic word over our life.
Some
people love the prophetic word too much, but they do not want to pay the price
from of for it.
Are
you willing to commit your life for the Lord?
Are
you willing to pay the price for the Lord?
2. Joseph
Matthew 1:18-25
Mt 1:18 This is how the
birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to
Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through
the Holy Spirit.
Mt 1:19 Because Joseph her
husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace,
he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
Mt 1:20 But after he had
considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,
¡°Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because
what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
Mt 1:21 She will give birth
to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his
people from their sins.¡±
Mt 1:22 All this took place
to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
Mt 1:23 ¡°The virgin will be
with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel¡±—which
means, ¡°God with us.¡±
Mt 1:24 When Joseph woke
up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as
his wife.
Mt 1:25 But he had no union
with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.
1) Joseph was a righteous
man
a) He found that Mary was
pregnant.
b) He did not want to disgrace her
to the public even he has a right.
c) He did seek the best solution
over this case for her
d) He was a godly man
Romans 3 There is no righteous man means
compare with sin.
This righteous means is different than
Romans.
We
could see Joseph has a heart to honor Mary even it was the situation too hard
to accept.
We
are easily to against and tare down other people even we have a small offensive
situation.
Joseph¡¯s
case was not a small offensive situation, but it was the major issue over his
marriage life.
He
has a right heart with God. that is why he knows the right or wrong with God¡¯s
heart.
One
thing I notice that Joseph did not have any heart to judging or revenge her at
all.
This
is the only possible when we have the right relationship with the Lord.
And
our heart will be aligned with Him, so we can have the righteous heart.
We
have to honor our spouse, our parents, our children, our brothers and sisters¡¦
Many cases people did not hesitate to
judge other people over the problem.
And they started to gossip behind of
them.
We
have to have the right attitude toward to our spouse, our children, and our
people who are close to us.
We
have to be righteous in all circumstances.
We
have to honor and respect always. Build them up, not tear down.
We
have to be the righteous person to His Heart.
I
believe that Joseph had the intimate relationship with Him daily.
We
need to keep intimate relationship more and more and deeper and deeper
continually.
The
first greatest commandment is ¡°Love your God with all your spirit, soul and
strength.¡± We are going to share how we are going to have the intimate
relationship with him continually.
2) Joseph has an open heart to the Lord
a) The heavenly visitation by the angel of the
Lord.
b) Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife;
c) The Lord revealed the truth of Mary¡¯s pregnant.
d) The Lord released the His New Plan for the people
First
thing, we have to see the truth and the revelation from the Lord.
Lot
of time we make a decision by our discernment, the environment by our flesh
way, but we have to make any decision has to come from the Lord.
We
have to make sure that everything is from the Lord or not.
We
need to have more intimate relationship with the Lord and see the truth.
This
is the result of the intimate relationship, so we have to keep the intimate
relationship with the Lord in daily even in the dream.
We
have to have the truth from the Lord directly to make any decision and the decrement.
One
thing we need to find out easy to listen to the Lord.
Some
people hear the voice of the Lord through the Bible, dream, prayer, ¡¦
3) Joseph has a submission heart to the Lord
a) Joseph awoke from his sleep
b) He did as the angel of the Lord commanded him,
c) He took Mary as his wife,
The
key of our life is to submit to the Lord.
We
have to submit the Lord and His Plan alone no matter what we have planed or we
have the right to be angered or judged. Our plan can be changed according to
His Plan.
We
have to submit to the Lord against our will and our right whatever they are.
To
listen to the word of God is very important, but it is in vain to hear the
voice of the Lord if we do not obey to the Lord quickly.
Matthew 7:24-27
Psalm 119:60
I will hasten and not delay to
obey your commands.
4) Joseph has the right relationship with the Lord and Mary
continually
1) but he kept her as a virgin until she gave birth to a Son;
2) and he called His Name Jesus.
He
kept the certain level of godly life when he saw the work of the Lord.
We
have to keep in a covenant godly life, and not hinder the Work of the Lord.
We
have to build up the person what God called him or her to do.
We
have to build our spouse, our children and our One Glory Church people up what
God is doing in their life.
We
should not put any hindrance in front of their way, but help them to grow and
to be filled the purpose.
3. Lesson from Mary and Joseph
1) They have the intimate relationship with the Lord
2) They committed to the Lord fully.
3) They paid the price without doubt
4) Their will aligned with God¡¯s will.
5) They become one.
Matthew 18:19
Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything
you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12
:9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their work:
:10 If one falls down, his friend can
help him up. But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!
11
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one
keep warm
alone? Though one may be overpowered, two
can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly
broken.
That
is why the Lord put them together to bring the new thing to the world.
When
we move in this life, Go will use us to pregnant and birth the new things
through us. God already promised to us that He is going to do the new things
among us, so now it is time we need to be ready fro the new things.
Yesterday,
I watched the news about the fire problem.
The
fire situation will be changed depends on the wind direction and strength.
I
noticed that this fire problem was not sweep out the area, but the real problem
was the ember that was spread out the fire everywhere.
God
is going to send the fire of the Holy Spirit with the wind of the Holy
Spirit soon or later for the great commission, and also I am afraid to say that
at the same time I feel like there is judgment too.
God
has been release the new things among us, but we will not see the new things if
we are not ready to pregnant and birth, also we might loose the time like as
the Pharisees missed the Messiah in Jesus¡¯ time.
III. Jesus
Matthew 1:21-23
Mt 1:21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name
Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.¡±
Mt 1:22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the
prophet:
Mt 1:23 ¡°The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and
they will call him Immanuel¡±—which means, ¡°God with us.¡±
1. Jesus – He will save His People from their
sins.
He
is the only one to save us from our sins. – We have to come to the Lord.
Invitation
for the salvation
2. Immanuel – God with us
He
never leaves us. He is always with us.
Invitation
for the encounter with the Lord
