The Women in Genealogy

November 9, 2008

By Pastor Young Joon Park

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between you and the woman,

And (I will put enmity) between your seed and her seed;

He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise Him on the heel.

Adam chose the devil¡¯s will, so God cast Adam and his wife Eve out from the Garden of Eden. But by His Grace He had planned to send Jesus Christ to save His People at the moment of Adam¡¯s fall.

Our human being has been multiplying until today since Adam and Eve had chosen satan¡¯s will instead of Father God¡¯s Will.

I. The genealogy

We could find the two major genealogies in the Bible.

They are Adam¡¯s genealogy and Jesus¡¯ genealogy.

1. Adam¡¯s genealogy

    Genesis 5 & 11: – the genealogy of death ¡°died¡±

2. Jesus¡¯ genealogy

Matthew 1:1-17, Luke 3:23-38 – the genealogy of life ¡°beget¡±

    1) Matthew 1:1-17

       a) The King Messiah as King of kings, and Lord or lords

       b) Start from Abraham to Joseph as a Covenant Son Jesus

       c) Solomon is Joseph¡¯s ancestor

    2) Luke 3:23-38

       a) The Last Adam Jesus as Son of Man

       b) Start from Jesus as the Last Adam who brings the lost to God by His Sacrifice

       c) Nathan is Mary¡¯s ancestor

3. The purpose of this genealogy

Jesus is the only One, the way, the truth and the life, for all entire human being.

For entire human beings to be qualified as human being.

He must be a human being – the Son of Man

John 1:51

And He said to him, ¡°Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.¡±

1)     He must be the one who can represent the entire human being. – Messiah

John 20:31

but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.

2)     He has to have the authority for the entire human being – Son of God

Matthew 16:16

Simon Peter answered, ¡°You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.¡±

4. Who is Jesus to you?

John 6: 53-54

53 So Jesus said to them, ¡°Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.

54 ¡°He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.

II. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

Matthew 1.1-2

1 The record of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham:

2 Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.

1. Abraham was the father of Isaac

    1) Abraham is the covenant of God

Genesis 15:5

And He took him outside and said, ¡°Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.¡± And He said to him, ¡°So shall your descendants be.¡±

It was not started from Adam, but from Abraham who was chosen and received the promises with swearing His Oath to Him.

So this is not only for Jews in natural, but also all Christians who became the member of the God¡¯s Family through the promise by His Blood.

And also we all become Abraham¡¯s descendent by His promise.

So all of us Christians are the real Jews, and this is our genealogy.

     2) Symbolically Abraham is Father God.

Abraham is my father through the promise of the Lord.

Our Father God is our Daddy. Our Father God is our beginning and our source.

He is the only One in our life.

We are under the Lord, starting with Abraham¡¯s inheritance, The Abraham¡¯s inheritance belongs to us.

 2. Isaac the father of Jacob

     1) Isaac is the beginning of the promise for the multiplication.

Without Isaac, there is no multiplication.

Sometimes we wonder why we do not have much fruit in our life and in the ministry. There are some reasons, but we should not stay in that trap.

We have to have the prophetic vision from the Lord, and you have to wait for His fulfillment in our lives. Even Isaac did not have many sons, only two, and also they did not get along with each other well at all.

     2) Isaac is the symbol of Jesus

And Isaac is the shadow of Jesus Himself and we come from Jesus. Also we are the reflection of Jesus, because He is living in us, and we are no longer we who live, but Christ lives in us.

We have been born with Him through His Blood.

We have been baptized with Him in river Jordan through His Blood.

We have been empowered by the Holy Spirit with Him at the river Jordan through His Blood.

We have been in ministry with Jesus through His Blood.

We have been suffered with Jesus through His Blood.

We have been crucified with Jesus through His Blood.

We have been resurrected with Jesus through His Blood.

We have been ascended to heaven with Jesus through His Blood.

We have been seated on the thrown with Jesus through His Blood.

We are living here on earth through the Power of the Holy Spirit with Jesus right now.

So we need to follow Him in the exact same way of Jesus¡¯ life on this earth until we take our last breath.

John 14:12-14

12 I tell you the truth,

Anyone (Put your name) who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing.

He (put your name) will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

13 And I will do whatever you (put your name) ask in My Name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.

14 You (put your name) may ask Me for anything in My Name, and I will do it.

 3. Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.

     1) Jacob was God chaser

He had visions when he was in his home, and eagerly wanted to accomplish by his own way. Jacob was not passive, but was very aggressive in pursuing to receive the blessings.

That is why he had problems with Esau

Jacob was faithful and focusing for the value, and his target was fixed.

Jacob built his own home from nothing to extreme wealth and abundance by the Lord¡¯s Grace and Favor with His Anointing.

He had wrestled with an angel.

He moved by the Lord alone.

     2) Jacob is the beginning of the accomplishment of the multiplication

Jesus Himself started making the disciples from His 12 Children.

Jacob was father of many.

We have to ask the Lord to send 12 disciples who really want to follow Jesus and see the glory of the Lord through the Great Commission.

1. Tamar

Matthew 1:3

Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar,

From Tamar:

Judah was the key to breakthrough for Tamar¡¯s life, but she did not give up the hindrance and she took the risk of death to breakthrough of her life destiny.

Judah did on purpose to hold and hindered her destiny because of his own fear.

Her total committed life brought the BREAKTHROUGH, also brought the DOUBLE PORTION to her life.

John 14:12

12 I tell you the truth,

Anyone (put your name) who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing.

He (put your name) will do even greater things (double portion) than these,

because I am going to the Father.

2 Kings 2:8-14

¡°Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,¡±

Do you have aggressive heart to fulfill your destiny that God assigned (appointed, ordained) no matter what situation you are in right now?

Do you challenge the person who keep holding and hindering your destiny?

I have to be the person who to change God¡¯s heart.

2. Rahab

Matthew 1:5

Salmon was the father of Boaz by Rahab,

From Rahab

Salmon might be one of the spies during the exploring the Jericho, if it is true, then Salmon knows her and she knows him very well each other.

Rahab wanted her family¡¯s salvation, and she did help the spies who could be her enemy, but she had the right discernment and where she has to go. She did not want to stay in this ungodly life.

The time is come we have to come out from the old situation.

She knew that the destruction was coming, and no one will be escaped from it.

She could make two decisions, to stay with her people and to be destroyed or to come out from them to be part of Israelite, even 2nd choice was not clear to be accepted or not.

But the chance of the choice was come, and she did not want to be lost the chance, and she did her best to help the spies and to protect them for their safety with her heart.

When the chance is coming from the Lord, then do not loose the chance, because the chance is the only one and there is no other chance.

3. Ruth

Matthew 1:5

the father of Obed by Ruth,

From Ruth

Ruth was the one who lived with Naomi as her daughter in law.

She knew the Lord through Naomi¡¯s life. The day of the chance to leave her, but she did not choose to leave her instead of to choose to live with her because of the Lord. She did not choose the world, but she did choose the Lord and to stay with her mother in law.

Her life style is no negotiation for the Lord.

Also she is one of the excellent examples of the submission.

She was very loyal person to the Lord and Naomi.

4. Bathsheba

Matthew 1:6

David was the father of Solomon by Bathsheba who had been the wife of Uriah.

From Bathsheba

This case is very ungodly relationship and life.

She did take a bath outside of her house and under the Kings wall, so she might have seductive heart toward to David, and David fell into the seduction of her by his flesh desire. Everything was not good example. Even he murdered his loyal general military man to cover up his and her sin from him.

But when David repented, God restored them everything, but the consequence of his sin was served it right.

The boy who were born from them could not survive his life because of David and Bathsheba¡¯ sin.

This is a total His mercy, grace and love.

His promise will not change no matter what they did, but they did receive the consequence of their sin continually.

We have to clear heart about sin, and we have to take any sin seriously.

Joyce Myer: She can to wrong if she wants, but she does not want to choose the wrong things because of the Lord.

5. Mary

Matthew 1:6

Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, who is

called the Messiah.

From Mary

She, Mary, was total to submit to the Lord even it was not understandable or even she can face the danger of stone to death.

Are you willing to take the risk for the Lord.

Conclusion

These five women were so honored from the Lord to be a line of the Messiah.
