The Symbol of the
Holy Spirit (III)

We meditated the name of the Holy Spirit (the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of
God, the Spirit of Christ and the Comforter), and God spoke to us on the seven
sins against the Holy Spirit two weeks ago.
Through the Word of God, God represents the Holy Spirit to us as several
different symbols and the Promises of the Holy Spirit in our life.
The symbols of
the Holy Spirit:
The Fire, the Wind, the Oil, the Dove, the Water, the Rain, the Wine,
I. The Symbol of the
Holy Spirit
1. Fire
Matthew 3:11b
¡¦ He (Jesus) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and
Fire.
2. Wind
John 3:8
The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound
of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is
everyone who is born of the Spirit.
3. Anointing
Oil
1 John 2:27a
As for you, the anointing which you
received from Him abides in you ¡¦
4. A Dove
John 1:32
I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of
heaven, and He remained upon Him.
5. Living Water
John 7: 38
38 He who believes in
Me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living
water.
6. The Rain
Joel 2:23
So rejoice, O sons of Zion, And be glad in the LORD your God;
For He has given you the early rain for your vindication. And He has poured
down for you the rain, The early and latter rain as before.
There are certain reasons why the Holy Spirit is like rain.
1) Watering the earth for the produce and for the survival of all life
Last year there were many lakes are drying out in America from the famine. Every
city made tremendous efforts to alleviate the situation, only to learn that it
was not easy for them.
Many people died in Africa because of famine as well.
In the likewise manner, it is absolute that we need the rain of the Holy
Spirit for our spiritual life. We can bear the fruit and our spiritual life
will be full of energy when we receive the rain of the Holy Spirit.
a) Life
through the Holy Spirit
John 3:5
Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of
water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
b) Renew our
life
Titus 3:5
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have
done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of
regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
On the earth, in addition to a lot of dust and the pollution but the
scorching sun as well that prevents the crops from growing. The rain cleanses
the dust and the pollution from the plant.
Our spiritual life is the same way. The Holy Spirit renews our mind and
refreshes our soul when we suffer through sin and worries of the world. We need
to have the thirst for the sweet rain of the Holy Spirit and drink of the Holy
Spirit.
2) Two different seasons
The Palestinian land is the Promised Land for the Abraham¡¯s descendants
that God promised to Abraham in BC 2100.
There are not many rivers in this Palestinian land. The River Jordan is the
biggest river in the land, but it is not a big enough of river for Israel
farmers to rely on their entire needs. Since there was no modern technology of
irrigation for the agriculture, Israel people were looking up at the heaven and
relying on the Lord.
There are two different kinds of rain.
The early rain and the late rain
Israel farmers are waiting these two rains because harvesting crops depends
on these two rains.
a) The former
rain (the autumn rain, the early rain) – late autumn
Winter season: October - April
Farmers in Palestine relied on the early rains of fall, which permitted
seeds to germinate and seedlings to develop into strong plants.
When the ground is watered, the farmers sow seeds (barley and wheat).
The farmers start to plant the seeds of Barley and wheat in the field when
the early rain waters the earth. Thanks to the early rain, the crops start to
grow.
Former rain is the first autumn shower. The heavy snow blankets the land
during the cold winter. The snow that covered over the crops actually provides
insulation from the cold temperature of the winter.
Purpose of the early rain: Preparing the soil for the seed to grow
b) The latter
rain (the spring rain, the late rain) – February and March
Equally essential is the latter rains of February and March, which enabled
plants to mature in the following months.
The spring warm temperature and the sunlight make the crops to grow.
And the farmers start to harvest after the latter rain.
Filled out the crops for harvest
The first
harvest is the harvest of barley,
The wave offering of the first harvest is the second
day of the Sabbath Day of the Passover feast. – Jesus¡¯ Resurrection Day
The first fruit of the harvest is Jesus Christ (including His 120 Disciples
and the people who followed Jesus Christ).
In this offering, the priest offers the harvest of barley to God.
Not just only
one spike of barley, but one sheaf – one spike is Jesus, one sheaf is Jesus and
His People. (Leviticus 23:4-14)
It means that
Jesus identifies you as Himself, and no one can separate you from the Lord
because you are His possession.
1) Acts 9:4-5
¡°Saul, Saul, why
are you persecuting Me?¡± ¡°I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.¡±
2) John 6:39
¡°This is the will of Him who sent Me,
that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing,
but raise it up on
the last day.¡±
The second
harvest is the harvest of wheat,
50 days from this first harvest, there is the feast for the second harvest,
the harvest of wheat.
In this day, there is another offering to the Lord for the second harvest. (Leviticus 23:15-22)
1) Present a new grain offering to the LORD.
2) 7 one-year-old
male lambs, 1 bull, and 2 rams – burnt offering
3) 1 male goat
– sin offering
4) 2 male
lambs one year old – sacrifice of peace offerings.
5) 2 loaves of bread with 2 lambs – wave
offering –
Before you
make the bread, the grain of wheat has to be broken and grind as a fine powder.
This means
that we have to die in the Lord and grind with trial to make a fine powder of
flour of the likeness of Jesus Christ. Then we can be made into bread, which is
in a totally different form and to be offered to God.
That is why
Jesus said
John 12:24
Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth
and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
James prophesied that the Church of the Lord would receive this former rain
and the latter rain.
James 5:7-8
7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of
the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient
about it, until it gets the early
and late rains.
8 You too be
patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near
a) The former rain (the autumn rain, the early rain) – late autumn
Jesus
paid all your sins by being crucified on the Cross.
3 days later, He was raised from the dead, and we became righteous to Him.
Romans 4:25
He who was delivered over because of our
transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.
Jesus is the only way, and the life and the truth.
Come to Jesus and be saved!
He spent time with His disciples for 40 days after His Resurrection,
ascended to the Heaven and He is sitting on the right side of Father God¡¯s
Throne until today.
After 10 days
the Holy Spirit came on His 120 persons like a rain with the mighty wind
sound and the fire on the Pentecost Day. The Church of Jesus was born on this
date.
This is the former
rain of the Holy Spirit that came to pass of the prophecies of Joel.
This early rain shower was poured out to 120 people at the Upper Room in Jerusalem
2000 years ago, and then this revival was spreading out to Samaria, Gentile
through Cornelius family, Antioch Church, Ephesus Church and all over the minor
Asia and Europe.
The Lord¡¯s Church was growing in every place until 300 AD, this early rains
was reduced when the Church started to become formality and around 600 AD
Church lost the purpose of the Lord¡¯s Will. The dark age of church lasted for
1000 years according to the Church History.
The former rain season was over, but God promised to pour out the latter
rain season to the world through Prophet Joel.
After the former rain, God has plan for another rain as a new season of ¡°the
latter rain.¡±
b) The latter rain (the spring rain, the late rain) – February and March
Joel 2:28-29
28 ¡°It will come about after this that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind;
And your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see
visions.
29 ¡°Even on the male
and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
1517 AD God raised Martin Luther to wake up the church from the spiritual darkness,
and this great awakening was shook the Church of God and the world.
Since then, the Holy Spirit was working among His
Church continually.
The latter rain season has begun.

Wesley and George Whitefield to
bring the great awakening in England during the 1700.
o
God raised Charles
Finny and Dwight Moody in Europe
and America during the 1800.
o
In 1900 all over the world started to receive the
latter rain of the Holy Spirit.
o
Azusa Revival in
1906
o
Korea Revival in
1907
o
Indonesia Revival in
1960 through Mel Tari
o
South America Revival 1970
o
Africa Revival 1980
o
North America Revival 1990
o
There are so many other evidences of the Revival
throughout the world.
o
The Holy Spirit ¡°the latter rain¡± movement has been
getting stronger and stronger throughout the world today since 1700.
We are in the midst
of the latter rain, and at the
end of the time now.
We are in the midst of the latter rain and are under His Power and
Presence.
I believe that we are going to have a great revival soon or late.
And I do believe that the time is getting closer than before.
We are going to have the experience of the deeper intimate relationship
with the Lord that we never had before, and His Power will flow through our
life to the world and we will see the massive salvation among the lost.
When this time comes, we know that our Lord Jesus Christ will come with His
Glory, accept us, reward us and live forever with the Lord.
Remember that the early rain and the latter rain season is about the
massive harvest throughout the entire globe of the world and great the restoration
between God and people.
Let¡¯s become consecrated, give our life to the Lord fully and follow Him
with our full heart.
We have to obey and submit to His Will and Commandments with pure and
truthful heart.
1) Love your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your
strength.
2) Love your neighbor as yourself.
We have to unity with love in practical way to repent, to forgive and to
accept each other no matter what the situations are. Then the Holy Spirit can
release the Revival among us.
The worldly emotion or matter is all in vain, so we do not need to stay in
it, but we have to get out from it.
It is time to get rid of them from our life for our eternity and for the
Kingdom of God.
We need the Holy Spirit and His Glory and His Revival today.
Please do not
give up, but pursue the Lord alone until the Holy Spirit pours out His
Anointing to us for His Glory.
Let the Holy
Spirit possess and control us fully.
7. The Wine
Ephesians 5:8
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation,
but be filled with the Spirit,
You cannot control yourself when you are drunk,
That is why you can see and realize their condition right away when someone
is drunk or not. When you are drunk with the Holy Spirit, then people would see
you that there is something different about you.
If you are drunk with the wine or worldly matter, you will be in your way
to corruption.
If you are drunk with the Holy Spirit, people will see the Lord within you.
You are going to be drunk something else like as satan¡¯s poison to corrupt
your life if you are not drunk with the Holy Spirit.
1) Brings the happiness and joy
The Holy Spirit brings the happiness and joy abundantly.
The joy or happiness of the world is just temporary. When the difficult
time comes, they will be gone and be fallen into the miserable situation.
However, the Holy Spirit brings the joy and happiness in our spirit, so no
matter what the circumstances around us it will not affected by it. There might
be a short time of the struggling, but it will not stay with us longer any
more.
Because of Him, our spiritual life will grow into the maturity, and that is
His Goal for your life too.
2) Brings the great peace
You will be in great peace even though the tremendous distress and pressure
is coming against you when you receive this peace.
I was in this peace before, and I believe that the Holy Spirit will
continually pour out His Peace as long as I am in His Fullness, so we need to
be filled with the Holy Spirit continually.
3) Brings the boldness
One of the noticeable manifestations of the filling with the Holy Spirit in
Acts is the boldness.
I saw one of my soldier who was quite and very submissive attitude to the authority,
but he became total different person when he was drunk. I mean that he literally
acting without any fear.
It was shock to me, because end up he stabbed his best friend with military
dagger.
The wine will bring the disaster in our life.
The Holy Spirit brings the right heart with boldness for the Kingdom of
God.
We cannot die for the Kingdom of God our own will, but we can die for the
Kingdom of God boldly by the Holy Spirit.
4) Brings the true death to the flesh
The drunken people do not feel much pain, because nerves in their brain
malfunctions and their physical nerve system was numbed due to the chemical
reaction of the alcohol
in their body system.
The Holy Spirit does not make our senses numb or make us into the confusion,
but sharpening in every area.
Also the Holy Spirit fills in us with His Love and Patience, so we can overcome
all of the suffering for the Lord. The world hates Jesus and you, so they are against
you in many areas, but because of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome no matter how
much or what they are against us.
We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit right now today; otherwise, we
are going to be filled with something else other than the Holy Spirit.
Conclusion
1. You are sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise
Ephesians 1:13
In Him, you also, after listening to the message of
truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in
Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
1)
No one can break – protection
2)
The special ownership – belongs to God
3)
The authority – commissioned by the Lord
2. God gave us the Holy Spirit in our heart as a Pledge
2 Corinthians 1:22
who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.
God gave us a good picture of the Holy Spirit to understand through Genesis
24:
The Journey of Abraham servant and Rebekah
Rebekah¡¯s
willing to follow – her destiny was ordained and fixed
Our future and Destiny:
Our Holy
Spirit is always with us as our pledge, leads us and makes us to be as pure as
Jesus¡¯ bride. The Holy Spirit is going to be grieved if we do not walk under
His Care.
We always
yield our flesh desire and submit to the Holy Spirit.
Let us welcome the Holy Spirit and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Let us be sensitive to His Will.
