Abide in
Me

John 15:1-11
1 ¡°I am the true vine, and My Father is the
vinedresser.
2 ¡°Every branch in Me that does not bear
fruit, He takes away; and every branch that
bears fruit, He prunes it so
that it may bear more fruit.
3 ¡°You are already clean because of the
word which I have spoken to you.
4 ¡°Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch
cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in
the vine, so neither can you
unless you abide in Me.
5 ¡°I am the vine, you are the branches; he
who abides in Me and I in him, he bears
much fruit, for apart from Me
you can do nothing.
6 ¡°If anyone does not abide in Me, he is
thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they
gather them, and cast them
into the fire and they are burned.
7 ¡°If you abide in Me, and My words abide
in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be
done for you.
8 ¡°My Father is glorified by this, that you
bear much fruit, and so prove to be My
disciples.
9 ¡°Just as the Father has loved Me, I have
also loved you; abide in My love.
10 ¡°If you keep My commandments, you will
abide in My love; just as I have kept My
Father¡¯s commandments and
abide in His love.
:11 ¡°These things I have spoken to you so
that My joy may be in you, and that your joy
may be made full.
12 My command is this: Love each other as I
have loved you.
I The vineyard
1. I am the true vine
Ezekiel 15:2-5
2
¡°Son of man, how is the wood of a vine better than that of a branch on any of
the trees in the forest?
3 Is
wood ever taken from it to make anything useful? Do they make pegs from it to
hang things on?
4 And
after it is thrown on the fire as fuel and the fire burns both ends and chars
the middle, is it then useful for anything?
5 If
it was not useful for anything when it was whole, how much less can it be made
into something useful when the fire has burned it and it is charred?
The
purpose of the vine is to produce grapes.
Jesus
Himself is the vine, which means the purpose of His Life was to be fruitful,
and we could see His Abundant Fruit through His Life, and His fruit is
countless even today.
His
Life was full of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, full of fruit of the evangelism
through the multitude, the Power Ministry, and the Disciple making ministry.
He
is the only example in our every area.
When
the Lord, Elohim, created the first Adam and gave his destiny with his wife.
¡°Be
fruitful!¡± ¡°Multiply!¡± ¡°Fill the earth!¡± ¡°Subdue it!¡±
This
first Adam was appointed with this destiny by the Lord.
And
the Last Adam, Jesus, has been to fulfill His Destiny during His Ministry and
still Jesus¡¯ Disciples carry on this mission all over the world until today.
2. My Father is the
vinedresser. ³»¾Æ¹öÁö´Â ±× ³óºÎ¶ó
1) Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He
takes away;
Fruitless
branches will be cut out from the vine.
God
is looking for the fruit from our life, which is why He prunes the branches.
Jesus
was looking for the fruit, and when He could not find any, He condemned this
fig tree.
Matthew 21:19
Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing
on it except leaves only; and He said to it, ¡°No longer shall there ever be any
fruit from you.¡± And at once the fig tree withered.
Do
you think that Jesus did not know there was no fruit in this fig tree?
Mark 11:13 says that it was not a season for the fig
fruit.
Didn¡¯t
Jesus know the season of fig at all?
We
can see there are two important messages from Jesus from this.
The
Lord is looking for the fruit from us in or out of season.
Jesus
teaches that we have to have a serious faith in Him and walk with it.
Mark 9:47
If your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out; it is better for
you to enter the Kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be cast
into hell,
2) and every branch that bears fruit, He
prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.
The
vineyard farmer prunes in two reasons.
1.
He cuts off unnecessary part that could be the cause the reduction of the
fruits in quality as well as quantity.
2.
He cleans branches that are dirty from the dirt or any reasons.
Hebrews 12:11
All
discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those
who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of
righteousness.
3) You are already clean because of the word
(Logos) which I have spoken to
you.
Hebrews 4:12-13
12
For the Word (Logos) of God is living and active and
sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of
soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the
thoughts and intentions of the heart.
13
And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open
and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Acts 20:32
And now I commend you to God and to the Word (Logos) of
His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the
inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
Our
Father God is working among us directly.
Our
Yahweh God is our Father, and He is the only One that takes care of you and me
every single day and forever.
3. You are the branches
Vine
does not bear fruit, but the branches.
So
we are the one who brings the fruit to the world.
People
cannot see Jesus directly, but they see Jesus through the fruit of our life.
1) If you abide in Jesus
a) Jesus abides in you
b) You bear much fruit
The
branches do not have any ability to bear fruit, but the supplies from the vine.
The
fruit:
The fruit of the Word of God.
John 15:3
You are already clean because
of the word which I have spoken to you.
The fruit of the Firm Foundation
Colossians 2:6-7
6 So
then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,
7
rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and
overflowing with thankfulness.
The fruit of the Holy Spirit
Galatians 5:22-23
22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness,
23
gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
The fruit of the Disciple making
Daniel 12:3
Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of
the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the
stars forever and ever.
2) If you do not abide in Jesus
a) You cannot bear fruit by yourself unless you abide in Me.
b) Apart from Me you can do nothing
c) You are thrown away as a branch and dried up
d) They gather them,
e) They cast them into the fire and they are burned.
II. Promise
1. Prayer answer
1) If you abide in Me,
2) My words (Rhema: which I have spoken to you) abide in you,
3) ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
2. when you bear much
fruit,
1) My Father is glorified by this
2) and so prove to be My Disciples.
III. The meaning ¡°abide¡±
1. Abide in My Love
1) Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you;
The
word, Abide, is meant to be applied in many ways, however, through this chapter,
we will understand that He wants us stay in His Love.
How
can we dwell in His Love?
We have to understand His Love.
A. He took all our sin.
Isaiah 53:6
All of us like sheep have gone
astray, each of us has turned to his own way;
But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all
to fall on Him.
John
1:29b
¡¦ ¡°Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
B. God has given you everything without stinginess
Romans 8:32
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us
all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
C. He is crazy about you.
I John 4:10
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and
sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
D. He never leaves or abandons you, eternally.
Matthew 28:20b
¡¦ and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.¡±
John
14:16b
¡¦ and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you
forever;
There
have been so many times that we heard ¡°God loves you.¡± Do you really believe
that?
Do
you really understand?
Many
times I could see that people believe Jesus in their head as head knowledge,
but through heart.
We
have to go through the Cross and put every our own things leave on the cross
and receive Jesus in our heart and we need to fall in love with Jesus.
We
have tremendous of promises from the Lord, but none of them will be not for me
until we really enter the cross.
Today
I invite you to come to Jesus and go through the cross to receive the Love of
God.
Invitation
2. If you keep My
commandments,
1) You will abide in My love
2) Just as I have kept My Father¡¯s
commandments and abide in His love.
3) My command is this: Love each other as I
have loved you.
Jesus always has the intimate relationship with Father and
kept His Word in Him and God¡¯s Word always alive in Him to live by it.
Abide in Me means to follow Jesus with
full trust in Him, it is not the way of obligation life. It is based
on the loving relationship.
You are My son, and I am
your Father. This relationship is not based on the obligation. It is the
Father¡¯s love relationship, so you do not need to work to earn My love. I love
you already, so you need to stay in My love only. Trust Me totally, do not
doubt anything at all.
It is total relying on Me
alone, with no need of any
doubts of My word and hesitance.
IV. These things I have spoken to you
1. My Joy may be in you
2. Your joy may be made full.
