John 14:16-17
16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another
Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees
Him not, neither know Him: but ye know Him; for He dwells with you, and shall
be in you.
Jesus
promised His Disciples to send the Holy Spirit at the very evening just before
He was arrested.
Comforter:
Counselor or Helper, It is a legal term, but with a broader meaning than
"counsel for the defense" (see 1Jn 2:1). It referred to any person
who helped someone in trouble with the law. The Spirit will always stand by
Christ's people.
He
will abide with us forever and never leave us. He is always with us as our
Comforter, Helper or Counselor.
For the understanding – the Jewish feasts
The
Jewish feasts and celebrations were a shadow of the things to come through
Jesus Christ.
Colossians 2:16-17
16 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or
drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day—
17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the
substance belongs to Christ.

Jesus¡¯ Cross and Death
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who
live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live
by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
The Feast of the First fruits (Leviticus 23:9-14)
Jesus¡¯ Resurrection
Wave

Sabbath)
Ephesians 2:5
even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive
together with Christ ( by grace you have been saved),
Jesus¡¯ Ascension – 40 days
And
as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men
in white clothing stood beside them.
Ephesians 2:6

The Pentecost Day (Shavuot) (Leviticus 23:16-21) – the Descent of
the Holy Spirit
1)
seven complete Sabbaths –
the seventh Sabbath
2)
present a new grain offering to the LORD.
3)
you shall make a proclamation as well; you are to have a holy convocation.
4)
no laborious work.
Pentecost (Shavuot)
the
Feast of Weeks, the Feast of Harvest, and the Latter Firstfruits
Celebrated
on the fiftieth day after Passover, Shavuot is traditionally a joyous time
of giving thanks and presenting offerings for the new grain of the summer wheat
harvest in Israel. The name "Feast of Weeks" was given because
God commanded the Jews in Leviticus 23:15-16, to count seven full weeks (or 49
days) beginning on the second day of Passover, and then present offerings of
new grain to the Lord as a lasting ordinance.
This
Pentecost Day was kept since Moses, and they keep this special feast until
today among the Jews, but they did not realize this is the day of the Holy
Spirit for all His People.
God
assigned this very special day for us for several thousands
of years, and fulfilled His Promise 2000 years ago, so today we are live in the
Pentecost now. The Holy Spirit is working among us the same measure of the
first Church.
Acts 2:1-3
1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one
place.
2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing
wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing
themselves, and they rested on each one of them.
I. Who is the Holy Spirit?
1. He is God.
1) Omnipresence
Psalm 139:7-8
Where can I go
from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend to
heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
2) Omnipotent
Luke 1:35
The angel answered and said to her, ¡°The Holy Spirit will come upon
you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason
the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.
3) Omniscience
1 Corinthian 2:10
For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the
Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.
2. He is a Person.
1) Intellect
Romans 8:27a
and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit
is, ¡¦
2) Emotion
Romans 8:26b
¡¦
but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
3) Will
1 Corinthian 12:11
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to
each one individually just as He wills.
3. The reasons to know the Holy Spirit as a
Person
1) To worship Him
2) To be used by Him
3) To relationship with Him
II. The Reason of the Holy Spirit
1. The Holy Spirit
1) He will guide you into all
the truth – life change
John 16:13
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all
the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears,
He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
a) Spiritual growth
Romans 8:26-29
26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not
know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with
groanings too deep for words;
27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit
is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good
to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed
to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;
b) Fruit of the Holy Spirit
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
2) He will Glorify Jesus –
Supernatural life of the Kingdom of God
John 16:14
He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to
you.
3) The Promise of the Holy Spirit
Acts 1:8
but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you;
and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,
and even to the remotest part of the earth.¡±
2. Jesus Christ lived by the Holy Spirit
1) Jesus came here to fulfill
for our redemption as the Lamb of God
Mark 10:45
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,
and to give His life a ransom for many.¡±
2) Jesus came here to manifest
God to us and glorify Him.
John 1:14
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His
glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
3) Jesus planted the Kingdom of
God through His Disciples.
Matthew 28:19-20
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end
of the age.¡±
4) Jesus¡¯ Supernatural Realm
John 14:12
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I
do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to
the Father.
Jesus
Christ our Lord lived as our perfect example how we can walk under the Holy
Spirit as a Spirit filled life.
Conclusion
Only
through the Holy Spirit we can fulfill His Will for His Kingdom, because we do
not have any ability or capacity to follow Jesus Christ.
So
we have to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
That
is why we have to receive the Holy Spirit in our life.
The
Pentecost Day is the day God prepared for us to enter into the supernatural
step to fulfill for His Kingdom. So we need to be saturated
with the Holy Spirit and live under His Anointing in our daily life.
I
am going to share the Holy Spirit in
more details
later, but today we are going to learn how we receive the Holy Spirit, and at the same time, we should all
be baptized in the Holy Spirit today.
1)
You have to have the desire of the Holy Spirit eagerly
Acts
1:14
120
people gathered together in the upper room and pray fervently for 10 days.
2)
You have to open your heart to the Holy Spirit without any doubt.
It
means you have to believe that the Holy Spirit works in you today like as the
first church.
3)
Repent all your sin
Acts
2:38
The
repentance must come from your heart.
You can find all your sin as much
as possible and confess
it to the Lord, then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit
Sin
1)
disobedience to the Lord (flesh sinful desire)
2)
not pleasing God (James 4:17)
4)
focusing on your life to glorify Jesus alone in
our life
Let¡¯s
pray with one voice to cry out to the Holy Spirit to come to your life and to
be baptized with the Holy Spirit.
